From Afraid To Not Afraid.
Before Jesus was being arrested and tortured, the 12 disciples was always loyal to Jesus. In fact, when Jesus called upon them to become His disciples, they instantly stopped what they were doing and followed Christ. (But)Then during the last supper, Jesus said that they would abandon him, and they did. Why? Because they were afraid that they might also get arrested, tortured, and crucified. They are now in fear of dying that is why in the gospel it said that “On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews”. (But)When Jesus showed Himself to his disciples after he instructed Mary to tell them that she saw Him, they rejoiced and started following Him again. Why?
How Is It Related?
Think of it. What could have caused the sudden and real change of heart of the disciples? What could have caused the change in life of the disciples? What transformed them from fearful disciples to soldiers of Christ and Martyrs? If you haven’t figured it out yet, it’s the resurrection of Christ. Their change of heart and life was so radical, and was so close to the resurrection of Christ, we can say that it was indeed the resurrection of Christ that caused their transformation. The resurrection gave them hope to preach and spread the word of Christ once again. The resurrection gave them hope to fulfill God’s will. If it gave the disciples hope, it also gave us hope. How? Jesus being resurrected and ascending to the Father tells us that he would always be by our sides. (And) Like I said, anything is possible if He is with us, thus we can say He gives us hope.
How Does It Give Us Hope?
A lot of you may ask how does the Resurrection or the Risen Christ give us hope. Well, here's why. When Jesus resurrected, it gave us hope because it open our lives to an eternal future. A place wherein we can have happiness. By Jesus' resurrection, it told us that evil, sin, death, and suffering can be conquered. This then will allow us to live our lives more confidently. With hope given by the Risen Christ, we can face each day courageously and with commitment. Christ’s Resurrection shines light on our everyday lives. He's the source of our hope thus He's our strength.
